All the numbers you need to know from Bahrain (2025)

There was no catching Oscar Piastri up front as the McLaren star gave the team in papaya their first-ever Bahrain victory, but behind the young Australian it was action aplenty. That meant plenty of fascinating numbers for us to crunch post-race. Here’s just a few of the highlights…

•Piastri’s win was McLaren’s first-ever victory in Bahrain, coming on their 22nd visit.

•McLaren had only led eight laps ever in Bahrain before today, and none since 2007 (with Lewis Hamilton).

REPORT: Piastri storms to controlled victory in Bahrain Grand Prix ahead of Russell and Norris

•Piastri is the 49th driver to score a ‘hat-trick’ in a Grand Prix (win from pole with the fastest lap).

•Tonight’s race was Piastri’s 50th Grand Prix start, at the same venue as his debut in 2023.

•It was also his 30th consecutive point-scoring race weekend.

•Every race this year has been won from pole.

•Piastri’s winning margin was the largest of the season (15.499s).

•P2 was George Russell’s best career finish in Bahrain and the Mercedes driver’s best finish of the 2025 season to date.

•It was also his 14th consecutive points finish (a career best run).

•With Lando Norris in P3 for McLaren, it meant Mercedes power units locked out the podium for the 19th time in their history, only two races after they achieved it in China.

•Passing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc for third in the closing laps kept Norris in the lead of the Drivers’ Championship.

•Norris gained three places on the first lap – something he only achieved once in all of last season (from 15th on the grid in Azerbaijan).

•Leclerc finished in P4 and led his first laps since Austin last year.

•He finished fourth for the second consecutive Grand Prix.

•Team mate Lewis Hamilton achieved his best Grand Prix finish since joining Ferrari with P5.

•At Red Bull, Max Verstappen took P6, his lowest finish of the season.

•Verstappen’s two pit stops in the race were his slowest stops of the 2025 season.

•With P7, Pierre Gasly gave Alpine their first points of the season to lift them above Kick Sauber and off the bottom of the Teams’ Championship table

•At Haas, Esteban Ocon took P8 to score points after crashing during Qualifying.

•Yuki Tsunoda in P9 recorded his best result of the season, and the first points for the second Red Bull car in 2025.

•Oliver Bearman finished in P10 for Haas to score from last on the grid.

•It was Bearman’s third consecutive points finish this season.

•Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli took P11 – the first time he has failed to score as a Grand Prix driver.

•P12 for Williams’ Alex Albon was the first time he has failed to score this season.

•Team mate Carlos Sainz retired and is the only driver to fail to finish either of the last two Grands Prix.
